Embroidery can attract, seduce and surprise..
As an art student I had little interest in textiles - until I attended a workshop in machine embroidery where I was instantly hooked.
The possibilities of embroidery are endless - it can be applied to nearly anything, including clothes, fashion accessories, table-cloths, napkins, wall-hangings and even toys such as the emerald beetle I made below.
When I embroider I find myself totally absorbed in the world of colour and texture, surrounded by luscious fabrics, delicate beads and brightly coloured buttons. I find design inspiration everywhere - such as a single leaf or the pattern of rain drops on a window pane.
